Mel Bedggood is currently a 29 years old, single female living in the western suburbs of Melbourne, Victoria.
She currently works for a large telecommunications company as an Online Producer / Web Designer. When not being planted permanently in front of her PC at home and at work, her other interests lie in hockey, digital photography, travel, the arts and Aussie Rules.
Mel is an avid goal keeper, currently residing at Footscray Hockey Club for their 1st Women’s team. With over 19 years experience, she enjoys being able to motivate her other team mates and enjoy both the social and competitive nature of the sport.
Last year, whilst overseas, Mel hit the most pivotal point in her life. After, being overweight for her whole life, certain events hit home and now she’s on the journey of her “New Me.”
After reading Morgan Spurlock’s “Don’t Eat This Book” and having a discussion with a tour leader in Italy, she realised that she wanted to enjoy and live a longer, healthier life. Up until now, she’d accepted that she was eating herself to her death.
Returning home, Mel joined a local gym, began eating sensibly and began her journey to her new lifestyle.
Starting at 131.3kgs, Mel started slowly. She began researching all she could on eating healthy and exercising to gain the best results possible.
Along the journey, Mel is now the Vice Captain of her hockey team and is pursuing further studies as a Personal Trainer with FitNation. She’s always keen on inspiring others and loves to give advice to those who are also keen to follow the same path.
Currently weighing, 86.8kgs, her goal is to get down to 65kgs before December, in time for her 30th Birthday, and begin her new life of the “New Mel.”
Mel’s personal website includes many entries of new recipes or articles that may assist with your own personal weight maintenance or loss. It also provides some goalie drills that she’s created or found, her travelling experiences from around the world and other general influences of her life so far.
