Home Exercise Programs

Stuck at home with the kids? Can't be bothered going to the gym after work? Don't have the money to join the gym? Whatever your reason exercising at home is a very viable way to improve your health. There are many things you can do. You can carry the kids, or walk around the house. You can even do exercises to tone your muscles. You can have your own free gym membership in your own home. Look around your house. You'll see many things you can use to exercise.

You don't need weight training equipment when seeking a workout at home.

 

You can also combine some of these methods and get a great workout!

Shopping bags
Simply fill the bags with items until the desired weight is reached. Be careful not to overload them as plastic bags have a habit of breaking when you least want them too!

Exercises:

  • Squats
  •  
  • Lunges
  •  
  • High steps
  •  
  • Upright row
  •  
  • Shoulder press

 


  Sports bag
 
Once again, fill the bag until the desired weight is reached.

Exercises:

  • Bent over row
  •  
  • Stair climbs


  Bricks
 
Use full bricks or break them in half to decrease the weight!

Exercises:

  • Punching in the air
  •  
  • Punching out in front
  •  
  • Lateral raise
  •  
  • Push-ups on bricks
  •  
  • Front raise


  Milk bottles
 

  Fill up a 2L bottle with water and you have a 2kg weight. They even come with handles!

Exercises:

  • Bicep Curls
  •  
  • Overhead tricep extension

 

If you check in the local newspaper, you may even be able to find cheap hand weights. They're are the sorts of things that hang around the house long after they're used so most people are happy to get rid of them. If not, go to your local sports store and price a set of 5lb and a set of 10lb. They should keep you budy for a while
