    EXERCISE QUESTION

    Just a question....

I have a new spinning bike at home, and I had really really sore top of the foot near the ankle and sore ankle... (the break was higher than where its hurting..)  does anyone one else get sore feet when using a bike?

I have been doing around 60 - 100 mins per day. Is that too much? I just lose track of time and I am watching tv as I am doing it...

I wear my HRM so I know I am in my "target" limits.....

    Re: EXERCISE QUESTION

    Hi Lily,

Maybe you could ring a fitness centre that offers spin classes, and talk to the trainer that does the classes. They might be able to give you some answers on what to expect and whether or not it's the bike causing the aches.

    Re: EXERCISE QUESTION

    Thanks Girls!

I did what you suggested Virginia and she advised me its prob cause my feet hasn't done that type of movment for a while and the muscles in that area are getting used to it... but if it still hurts after  a few weeks see someone about it.

ooooh yes my butt hurts too, but only while I am on the bike!

    Re: EXERCISE QUESTION

    Hi Lily,

It does sound unusual. It shouldn't have too much to do with it but are you setting the seat height correctly?

    Re: EXERCISE QUESTION

Seat height is very important. When you're sitting on the seat, place your foot on the pedal (make sure your foot is parallel to the floor). Your knee should be almost straight, but just slightly bent.

    Re: EXERCISE QUESTION

It has helped with the ankle, but not the soreness at the base of the ankle and along the foot.  I have heard when people get to fat they can break their feet... could I have done this?

    Re: EXERCISE QUESTION

I have a physio appointment tomorrow, as an old injury is playing up, I think cause of my weight gain.

A few years ago I tore all the tendons or something off my hip, I had physo for 8 months and I couldn't walk for about 4 months, I was swimming the other day, got out of the pool and I sliped a bit and it has been hurting ever since, esp if I sit down or lift my leg forward.
