    Hi Tony,

    Welcome to the furum!

You mention that you've tried exercise and dieting in the past and it wasn't successful, but maybe it was just the method you were using.

We'll make the diet simple: You can eat anything that's fresh, and nothing that comes in a packet. So salads and veges are good, so are lean cuts of red meat, chicken, and fish.

With exercise, let's just get something regular going. Try getting out everyday for a walk. If you can do 60 minutes then that's great, if not try to get at least 30 minutes.

Also start a Progress Journal so we can all see what you're eating

    Re: Help Me Please =(

    OK well..

I genrally cant afford to buy fresh meat all the time , its pricey here in the UK to me . yesterday all i ate was around 12 crackers and in the morning i had a bowl of porridge. Then for the rest of the day nothing , i checked the calorie calculator  i was taking in 1546 , I'm sure i halved that yesterday with no fizzy drinks and no fatty fried foods . I think crackers have a lot of carbohydrates in them , and i heard that's a bad thing ? is that true? Anyhow as for walking 60 minutes everyday i just cant do that I'm way to paranoid about getting out unless i really have to go out . Shopping etc... i have a set of free weights here and i guess i could download a work out video of some kind .

I need to get protein into this diet , is there anything else i can add into this , how about some tuna on the crackers? i also heard tunas not to good for you ... :S , the advice everywhere else is so diffrent , Ive been sent some many mixed messages from diffrent groups of people .

As for fruit and veg , i can get that in the house no problem . Any particular kind?

Also if i stick to this little diet of mine , how much weight do you think i will loose? I currently weigh in at around 14 stone 7 pounds . Im 5.8 in height.

Well thanks for replying to my message , i actually didn't think people came onto this forum anymore ^^ .... but there is light at the end of the tunnel after all.

    Hello Tony!

Have you seen the Calorie King website? (http://www.calorieking.com.au) It is a great place to browse, and you can track food to keep an eye on intake/output, too. Oh and it is free! I know it is Oz based and you are not, but I think it could teach you alot, at least to start with. Ray has some calculators, too (http://www.raykellyfitness.com/Home/tabid/247/Default.aspx) which might help you out. Basic maths tells you to eat less and move more, but you CAN eat too little and make it harder on yourself, so I reccomend working out what you SHOULD be eating.

I am really sorry to read how hard you are hurting. This is one hell of a harsh battle, I know too well. But do NOT give up! I really wish you could take a breath and get out for a walk, but getting a DVD is also a way to get some more moving into your day!

Hang in there, and do keep posting, This forum can moe slow sometimes, but there are usually a few of us poking our heads in, and therefore you will not be alone!

    Cheers!

    Jane

    Re: Help Me Please =(

Crackers are generally high in fat so not really a good choice. As far as tuna goes, stick to tuna in springwater, rather than oil. Try to eat 3 different coloured veges each time. Then you'll know your getting a good range of vitamins.

With exercise, if you can't go for a walk you really need to find some activity to do as this will help improve your metabolism (and general health!)

    Good luck

    Re: Help Me Please =(

What I found really helpful while I was dieting and I still do sometimes now is to keep a food diary - everytime something went in my mouth I would write it down and the time I ate it.  You can have a day to day look at how and why you are eating - it is a real eye opener.  I found out how much ice cream I was really eating and was able to cut it back drastically.  If you put a time down too you can have a real good look and see if you are comfort eating.  If you are eating a block of chocolate at 3pm every afternoon, you can go out and have a walk or do something else at that time so you dont get the urge.

Have you thought about hiring a treadmill? You can set it up in front of the TV and watch it while you are walking - even one of those mini tramps and a skipping rope are great!

I always get concerned/suspicious about people who join this forum and post links to other sites... so I deleted the link.

It's amazing that you've been able to deduce the relevance of this site so soon after joining and feel empowered to tell other members.

    Re: Help Me Please =(

ya perhaps that its because of the foods that you were taking or perhaps the method of diet that you were having was not correct for you!
