    Gyms for beginners?

Having had the experience of the exercise classes the last few weeks.

I am going to have to concede that I don’t know much about exercise.

For someone who has little ambition to become an elite athlete (well not before Christmas anyway).

Is there such a thing as a rehabilitative gym?

I am thinking some ware between a physio and the stereotype of the buff elite athlete gym?

With many years of only modest activity I would imagine a full on give them a flogging type program is likely to cause injury and be extremely uncomfortable.

Being disabled makes it likely that I will never run at a competitive level however this doesn’t mean I wish to live life from a chair.

Any hints on finding such a place?

One of the gyms I went to had a great rehab trainer, Don, It was a little far away though, being in California, but it might be worth contacting your local gyms and asking? Question them on how much experience they have had etc. Maybe even your GP might know? Someone like Raymond?

    Hi Don,

Visit your GP and ask for a referral to an Exercise Physiologist. If there is one in your area you'll receive at least 5 visits, and it's usually totally covered by Medicare. If not totally covered you'll get a $47 rebate on each visit. Your GP must fill out an EPC Allied Health Referral Form.

Ahhh ok, going to the gym religiously or regularly may help, I think minimum of 3 times a week. Then plan a program for yourself.
