    Body Types?

Someone asked me the other day if i knew anything about eating/exercising for your body type. She told me "You would be a an Endomorph". Hmmmmmm. Sounds odd, but as I know nothing and am a natural sceptic, I thought I might just post here and get some input!

Anyone know anything? Or is it a load of codswallop?

    Re: Body Types?

Yes Petal - right up my alley this topic is. DR SANDRA CABOT believes that hormones have a lot to answer for ( and dont they ) and so they can affect where we store weight and what shapes we are - there is a questionaire on the net to do to help you decide which one you are. I personally am predominantly "lymphatic" - and cutting out on dairy for me was one of the first things to do AND I FELT FAN-TIDDILY-TASTIC !!! SALT WAS NEXT TO GO . Miss Jane, take a peek at this website and do the BODY SHAPING QUESTIONAIRRE - SCROLL DOWN as it is the last quiz on the page. http://www.weightcontroldoctor.com.au/index.php?page=quiz

The other thing is that I just saw a copy for sale on ebay $7.50.

Definitely worth a read and she also advocates what sort of exercises would be best suited to which shape you are, and what sort of foods to incorporate. GO FOR IT JANE !!!

Yes, Dr Cabot has made alot of money out of this theory, and like all other systems it works for some and not for others.

    Re: Body Types?

After all nobody would ever allow science to get in the way of making money in the weight loss industry.

    There is also xenomorphs.

If you were paying attention in alien the creature was described as a xenomorph.

It seems this body type you can eat whatever you like and you don’t put on weight you tend to be rather grumpy and have very few friends.

    Re: Body Types?

Thanks for the site Ruby, shall have a look. I am more interested in the exercise side of things, because I believe pretty much any "diet" or "plan" basically succeeds because your caloric intake is reduced and activity is increased, just in different ways! LOL!

Ah Ray and Don, you make me smile! I am merely curious, but shall no doubt continue plodding along with my calories in/calories out method.........

    Re: Body Types?

Jane, Men dont suffer from the hormonal rollercoaster we women do. They have both taken a leaf out of your book and are being sarcastic and cynical ! Seriously - Dr Sandra Cabot is a qualified medical doctor - but also has a terrific knowledge of natural health too. Please read the quiz and then I am happy to fill you in on some basics. Of course she advocates calories in / and calories burned etc - but she concentrates on the QUALITY OF THE FOOD that we eat - and how it is literally FEEDING OUR BODY with the nutrients our body requires. With just a few changes I was feeling over the moon - and shrinking - IT TRULY IS LIKE THE MISSING LINK. Maybe your library will have a copy. Women also store fat in different places to men. I'm quite shocked at Rays flippant remark actually. Sandra Cabot is a real woman who cares about women and what they can do to improve their health. It isnt just about weight loss - its about getting your body to work more efficiently too. DEFINITELY WORTH TAKING A LOOK AT JANE, RUBY.

    Ray

RAY, I AM ASTOUNED AND SHOCKED BY YOUR NEGATIVE AND CYNICAL RESPONSE. THIS 'THEORY' THAT YOU REFER TO IS EXACTLY THE SAME AS YOUR THEORY - CALS IN VS CALS OUT -

SANDRA CABOT JUST HELPS WOMEN TO MAKE BETTER FOOD CHOICES BASED ON OUR HORMONE IMBALANCES. EG - CHOSING THE SAME AMOUNT OF CALORIES OF RED SALMON V'S LITE 97% FAT FREE HAM - SALMON IS BETTER FOR ME BECAUSE HAM IS SALTED & PROCESSED - even though the salmon may have more fat. AND THE OMEGA'S/ESSENTIAL FATTY ACIDS ARE BETTER FOR ME.

EVEN ROSEMARY STANTON ADVOCATES "GOOD FATS" VS BAD FATS.

PLEASE DONT POO POO DR CABOTS RESEARCH - EMBRACE IT, INCORPORATE IT, OR CHOSE NOT TO FOLLOW IT, BUT DONT SLAM HER AS A MONEY MAKER - SHE IS PUTTING HER QUALIFICATIONS TO GOOD USE AND SPANS BOTH SIDES OF THE FENCE - MEDICAL AND NATURAL HEALTH. SHE IS A GOD SEND TO ALL WOMEN WITH HORMONAL IMBALANCES.

    Re: Body Types?

I will suggest that the whole weigh loss industry is yet to come up with a one size fits most reliable, affordable and easily available weight loss system.

Most methods are so demanding that people struggle to comply with them or need to be done for the rest of your life so people struggle to make time for them.

I know of people who spend in the order of 800 hours a year at the gym I would suggest for that sort of commitment you would need to be enjoying it many people give up in the long term so the gym may not be that reliable.

Equally with gastric banding costing in the order of $20,000 it is not affordable for most people and with it being a specialized surgery there are only a modest number of surgeons who can do it so it is not easily available.

If the weigh loss industry can come up with a one size fits most reliable, affordable and easily available weight loss system the obesity problem will be solved.

    Re: Body Types?

Ouch! Gee Ruby, I think that's a bit tough...not to mention all the 'shouting' going in your post (capslock!) I don't think Ray *slammed* Dr Cabot at all.

I've read The Liver Cleansing Diet having bought it years ago!  It's gathering dust along with all the other weightloss books I have .Hmm

No doubt about it, THIS diet *has* made Sandra Cabot very wealthy! Any diet book sells well and that is why the weightloss industry is a multi billion dollar industry.

She's no different to anyone else selling something. Yes, she is passionate about what she does and I'm, sure there are thousands of women all over the world who praise her...and many that wasted their money, as with any other 'system', simply because they did not address their *real* issues, or make long term changes. No book or liver potion can do that for us!

The thing is, IMO it's like any other diet. You need to exercise and eat well. Cut out the crap etc and hey presto..we feel great! No surprises there. It always amazes me just how many different formula's people continue to come up with (and make money from) to achieve the same result. That's because WE are buying into it!

Alot of what Dr Cabot says make perfect sense...of course it does! But..it's not rocket science is it?

If she wasn't 'out' to make money then IMO she'd be providing membership of her website for free, seeing as she is so keen to educate us all 'for the better'...not charging $$$ to join (yes, she does have a limited membership which is free too!).Surely she makes enough to live on from her books etc ,not to mention all the potions and tonics which *apparently* your liver also requires, despite a natural diet of fresh foods etc. Again...more $$$$ *katching*

Apart from her obvious attention to the liver, IMO, if you follow a clean, fresh live food diet and have an active lifestyle then you will reap the exact same benefits as she is proposing. Heck , everyone would...AND they would feel fantastic! Every organ and cell in your body will benefit so it doesn't matter what you call it. She's just spouting another angle, like everyone else!

Sadly, her Liver Cleansing Diet has never 'held up' in any proper clinical trials, which is true for just about all 'diets'....as simply, they rely on ppl to actually follow them to the letter and can't provide long term results...because we are afterall ...human !

One thing that the 'boys' may like to hear.... she spouts that following The Liver Cleansing Diet will improve one's libido (always a fun thing! Lol)...but this is a result of almost any improvement in diet and exercise and change in our body, which then result's in us learning to like our bodies just that little bit more...so again...hardly a 'revelation' .

Basically, we feel better, we look better, we're more likely to take better care of our appearance...we feel better!  Everyone wins! Stick out tongue

    Re: Body Types?

    Hey Ruby,

No need to get offended, I didn't poo-poo her theory at all. The only problem I have is that it is promoted as the saviour to everyones problems but it's just the same as everything else, it works for some and not for others.

    Re: Body Types?

I just had to go back and re-read my post because I was wondering what all the fuss was about. All I said was that she's made a lot of money out of her theory, which she has via supplements, books, and radio. And that it works for some and not for others.

Once again, there was no offence intended.

    Re: Body Types?

I just went and spent ages doing all the questionairres. seems I could be : hormonally imbalanced, suffering PCOS, suffering Syndrome X, approaching menopause,  suffering thyroid issues, and have a Fatty Liver! LOL! None of them said, nope, you are fine or yep, get thee to the dr pronto. My head, on the other hand, said, Stop thy overeating and undermoving and you should be fine...........

I am SURE that this is great for some people, and who knows, maybe it could help me. I am just a natural born sceptic, and I think for me my head is more to blame than anything!!!

I was just curious, and i hope my curiosity has not ended up with people feeling bad!
