    Correct use of elliptical trainer

Is there a "correct" way to use an elliptical trainer?

Does it matter if one's heels lift of the foot plates at the top of the stroke?

Should you try to keep the upper body steady? Is it better or worse to allow your weight to move from side to side?

    Hi Rastus,

When you increase the pace your heels will have to come off the platform. The idea is not to keep them off. If you are holding on to the handles your body will rotate, and yes it is better to transfer your weight from side to side as you would with running.

Great thread.  I've always wondered the same thing.  My heels are constantly coming off of the elliptical at the gym.  I thought I was doing something wrong.  Thanks for the great information.
