I'm not one to purposefully overcook vegetables but for this receipe its needed, probably will kill anything of value within the veges but wont contain as much carbs as mashed spud.
All you need is to boil or steam cauliflower and/or cabbage until really soft.
Add salt and pepper and MASH.
Additionally you can add butter and milk if you make you make your mash that way, however it wont be as healthy
