lacking in iron - helpful tips & high iron foods (vegetarian & non-vegetarian)

Wondering what food you should eat to get more iron?

    A couple of tips:
    • Vitamin C aids iron absorption.  So when taking any supplement or food, take some orange juice, or Vitamin C with it.
    • Caffeine does block iron, so be sure to limit your intake.

Take a look at a couple of these links:

Re: lacking in iron - helpful tips & high iron foods (vegetarian & non-vegetarian)

yeah, great info.  I actually bought some multivitamins for the first time in my life.  Don't know if they will be okay, but I got Pluravit Women - health and vitality with extra iron, calcium and B vitamins.  Hope it goes down well, hate big pills and it smells.  Hmm, will see how i go for 30 days, hope i remember to take them.

    thanks.

    howdy,
just on the tablets (for those who haven't gone to the docs and are thinking of just getting these), make sure you do go to the doctors for these...even though you can buy them over the counter...because too much iron is a bad thing!  It really does need to be given by someone in the know!

I should have mentioned this MM!
    Arghness!
Once you are on these however the Doctor will advise you when you will need a blood test so they can check the iron levels in the blood.
