    June 1,500 minute cardio challenge

    Hi Ray

June is nearly here - how about a cardio challenge?

Concept2 rowing have a million metres (100,000 km) challenge not that I have an indoor rower. www.concept2.com.au - go to Events, million metre club.

I was thinking we could have a 1500 minute cardio challenge? I'm against measuring in kilometres because not everyone will do all their cardio on treadmills/bikes/rowers etc. There are 30 days in June, that is 50 mins a day. Feel free to revise it to something more achievable, but I think it could be a great motivator. What do you think?

Don't feel obliged to offer prizes.

Re: June 1,500 minute cardio challenge

    Hi Ray and others

I'm glad you like my idea.

Something I did a few years ago was did a virtual Tour de France. Of course it tooke me way more than 3 weeks to cover the total distance (3000 kms???) but I think I made it to the Champs Elyseese (spelling??). It was fun, and was a huge motivator. I made up Excel spreadsheets and graphs.

I was cycling (road bike) a lot back then (sigh). I was so fit and was getting my weight down. The weight piled back on, as it does, plus several extra kg. What puts me off cycling now is that I can't fit into my bike knix and I feel so fat and uncomfortable on my bike. I want to lose 4-5 more kg before I start cycling again.

Lance Armstrong's two books (It's not about the bike; Every second counts) are great too, by the way, for anyone who needs some inner motivation. He fought a tough battle with cancer. His mental toughness and will to survive was astronomical.

Re: June 1,500 minute cardio challenge

I'll be in it providing my computer doesn't start playing up on me again.  Then again if it does I suppose I don't have an excuse to not exercise!

Um, actually, before I commit, is this a biggest loser challenge where we need to supply a photo?

Good on you, p_s!!! I get it now- 50 mins of walking per day. Sorry, I was getting confused with talk about walking the coast line and the Tour de France!!!*LOL*Ok, so I've got an extra 100 mins to fit in over the month to get me up to 1500mins in the month.Surprise [:O]  Alison
