    Cherie's story

My story is life long....l have always been overweight.  Up until highschool l hated the way l looked but didnt do much about it.  Once l hit highschool l think l tried everything but never really stuck to it.  I also had the bad habit of not being able to eat in front of people....anyone.  If that meant l didnt eat for a whole day then thats what l would do.  Ofcourse the moment l got home l would eat heaps of junk food.  Ive never really ate the right foods l guess is the biggest problem and the craving l get for that food when l dont eat it.....maybe just habbit, l dont know.  I have lost heaps of weight at a time a few times but mainly it was from not eating and walking everywhere.  This time l know l have to do it for myself and my daughter.  She is 8 and l can see a very familar pattern happening and l dont like that one bit.  So, thats my story....pathetic really.

Weight loss ideas lve tried; nutrislim, tablets, normal diets, fluid diets and heaps more that l cant even remember.

    Re: Cherie's story

Thanks for sharing your story Cherie. We all have one! Some, several. Not pathetic at all but honest. You have come to the right place for support and guidance. There are a plethora of books and info on the net on good nutrition and we even have some great recipes on here. Other than that you could make an appointment to see a nutritionist. I think you can see one from the Public Hospital for free or maybe your Dr could advise you. You have taken the first big step in recognising where you need to change your food choices. You don't need to go on a 'diet', just eat healthy and excersie - will be good for both you and your daughter. Look at it as a whole new lifestyle change and not just a 3 or 6 month stint to loose weight. We are all hear to help you on your way.

    Great stuff!

    Hi Cherie,
definately NOT pathetic.. you are here and have made a start so good for you!

I too have an 8yo who has always been bigger than other kids his age.. he is broad and in the past year he has put on a lot of weight! He is now on this healthy eating change of life with me! He takes plenty of fruit to school and a sandwich, and no junk after school.. if he does this all week he is allowed to get "tuck shop/canteen" on a thursday. He makes good choices there now too.. and gets a hamburger with salad.. better than a pastry!

He walks to school each day with me and on the weekends too.. i have noticed a difference in his build.. you are right it is important to do something now so that you set the foundations for good habits for your child.

Good luck on your journey to a new and improved you!!
