Yeah, I understand what he means by Crosstraining but it would have made his good program even better if he outlined intensities as the weeks went on. You can go for a bike ride (take the kids out for a pedal), or you can go for a bike ride (Cruising along at a high cadence around a cycle track or road).
That said, it's still one of the better programs you'll come across that's for sure.
