I was surprised at how similar it is to what nutritionists are promoting!

For some reason I thought there'd be something new in it

I actually would of thought the diet would have been done up by at nutritionist...

    Re: The Biggest Loser Diet

What I meant was it was similar to what most nutritionists promote. For every diet around you'll find a nutritionist/dietician that will give it their backing.

I'm sure it's done by some kind of specialist, but these kinds of shows are usually pushed by a certain style of eating. They are looking to promote certain products or authors

    Obviously not this time!

    Re: The Biggest Loser Diet

I've switched over to Molenberg Swiss Bake Soy & Linseed bread. It is advertised (on the package) as being  for wellbeing and vitality and 97% fat free. The statistics for this bread is:

    Per serving (2 slices)

    Energy 700Kj (170 cals)

    Protein 10.1g

    Fat, total 1.9g

    saturated less than 1g

    Dietary fibre 4.2g

    Sodium 340mg

So this bread is 85cals per slice.

I'm still not at one with this whole calorie thing.. I think I might need to invest in a little handbook or something that makes sense...

    Re: The Biggest Loser Diet

Gee am I glad I found this information.  Thanks Ray.

I had my meal plans worked out by 300 cals less than what I should have, and I needed to add more fruit and veg.  My son is 16 and going on this with me, also he gyms so I'll rework our menu plans, as I had his at 1300 cals.  I want to do this the healthy way for both of us.  What would you suggest for him, he's 100kg but has quite a solid frame, he looks about 85 kg's not 100.

Meanwhile my 2 daughters are skinny as and so I'm buying low fat dairy for us and normal for them, as they are only 7 and 4.  Its good for them though as instead of a packet of chips they'll now both get a small bag of popcorn.

Again thanks for this info Ray, I almost made a huge mistake.

    Re: The Biggest Loser Diet

    Ok thanks Ray,

I really appreciate your help with that.  He was on 1300 today and said that he was ok with that, but he'll be happy to hear that he gets an extra 200.  He was eating a lot of bread before and now I've substituted half of that with fruit & protein.

    Re: The Biggest Loser Diet

    Hi Ray,

By that formula, at 64kg I only get a fairly meagre allowance of 987 calories a day.  That is a little discouraging and given that I sometimes have trouble fitting all of the necessary food groups adequately into 1200 calories per day,  a bit tricky.  And I thought I was doing so well!

Please tell me there's a loophole here somewhere!

    Hi JellyBeanIceCream,

    Welcome to the ForumHello [hello]

I'm not sure how they've come up with the formula but I'm sure it's designed for those that are at least 80kg. I certainly wouldn't advise going under 1200 calories per day.

Thanks Ray, and very relieved to hear it.  I'm definitely not one to restrain myself when the occasional unsuspecting jelly frog crosses my path and don't intend to start now!

And you must burn up quite a few calories with those speedy replies...much appreciated!

    Re: The Biggest Loser Diet

    Ray,

Im having trouble getting enough calories lately, i just dont seem to be hungry since a few weeks ago. Any suggestions?  im gonna have to start writing it down to see exactly what im averaging, but im sure its well under what i should be on. I know not eating enough is as bad as eating too much Sad [:(]

Try some nuts, or jam or honey sandwich just to top yourself up. How many calories are you having?

    Re: The Biggest Loser Diet

Hey, I am new to this site, and watched the show(s) very close.  I am interested if this really works.  I'm 5'7" and 165 lb female.  I would love to lose atleast 25-30 lbs before this early spring.  I haven't went to the gym this month at all because I have been so busy (I know it's an excuse but it's the truth).  Help if you can!!!  Heather

    Hi Heather,

Yes, it will certainly work for most. Just set your calories at 1200 to start and see how you go with that. Exercise is essential though
