Alison, don't get me started on the football. I love my rugby league and it's a big sacrifice!

I do know a bit about AFL. I played a season when I was younger, and I've been to a few games. I just don't get excited about it.

Looking forward to getting down there though!

Ha-ha, we'll just have to re educate you to appreciate REAL football....you know, the kind where they actually kick the football with their feet , rather than throwing it backwards to get forwards...?!!!!!!!

Some people call real football soccer.

Its an interesting game and played at the international level.

I hope you didn’t mean that game that is more like an 18 man boxing match that the umpire needs to have all his decisions confirmed by a committee on Tuesday evening?

    Re: We're moving to Melbourne!

The only game on earth that it is considered unreasonable to penalize a team for having extra players on the field?

The only game on earth where a head butt won’t get you sent off?

One of the few games on earth that if it keeps going the way it is they will need an interchange bench of 25 players by 2020 just to replace the injuries during the game.

I thought head butting was within the rules so long as you apologise from a safe distance

    Re: We're moving to Melbourne!

I think you need to remember it is really VFL with a few foreign teams added it certainly is not a national or international game.

    Re: We're moving to Melbourne!

Nope, nothing national about a game that has teams from more than one state. nothing at all....................

    Re: We're moving to Melbourne!

Logically 16 teams spread over a population of 21 million people gives a result of 1 team per 1.3 million people using ABS figures this would mean if it was a national competition there should be

    5 teams from NSW

    4 teams from VIC

    3 teams from QLD

    1 team from SA

    1 team from WA

This would leave 2 teams unaccounted for because of rounding errors

For a national competition 1 team should be allocated to Tasmania being the remaining state.

What should happen to the remaining team would be up to interpretation.

As I understand the distribution of teams is very different to this.

Or are the population of NSW and QLD some sub Australian life form, that doesn’t deserve their quota of the “national” game?

Or do they just have better ways to waste their time?

    Re: We're moving to Melbourne!

As I said, (sarcastically) nothing national about a game that has teams from MOST states. However, there IS something pointless about debating the point with someone who is being deliberately antagonistic. Sweet dreams, Don. May you wake up with a positive and enlightening mood brightening the gloomy recesses of your mind.
