Ray Kelly: Beth: I have to agree with this. I don't like Chris either. I do think that some of the things he said on tv were uncalled for and very disrespectful. His behaviour diring Kimberlie's elimination was disgusting. A lot of the contestants don't like each other but no one else has been so blatently rude. Ray says that the Chris he knows isn't like that but I reckon he's putting on a good show for his trainer. Most people are jerks in everyday life but put on a good show when they know they are being watched on tv. Chris couldn't even contro; himself during the very short time he was in the house.
You have to remember that by that time Chris had been putting up with Kimberlie putting him down every day for almost 4 months. That would take its toll on anyone. I know I wouldn't have lasted that long. As for Chris pulling the wool over my eyes, I've been doing this a long time and he's basically been living with me. He does say some things sometimes that makes me cringe, but certainly not worth hating him over. He's a pretty harmless bloke really. Ray
Well, all the oringinal contestants spent the same amount of time locked in the one house together and none of them made such nasty comments at an elimination as Chris did. I'm sure many of them hated each other but they used restraint during eliminations and even managed to say proper goodbyes. Chris wouldn't even look at Kimberlie when she said goodbye to him. I think that he was a really poor sport. The one comment "ding dong the witch is dead" was just childish. I saw the footage of him and Kimberlie training with the commando and I seriously doubt Kimberlie had much time at all to sit and criticise him like you say. I would doubt they actually spent much time together at all unlike the contestants in the house. I think the "poor chris" attitude is a cop out. He didn't have it any worse than any other contestant. Sorry.

My take from the episodes I watched is that Chris took far more from all the other contestants than he gave back. Yes he is brutally honest and raw - which I much prefer to smooth and sneaky. I think we all have to remember that this is Tv program, competing for ratings. Whilst it is not scripted, there are parts that come pretty close. Having met Chris, he has been nothing but honest and respectful to myself and all the family. I agree most people are jerks, some people more than others, from my perspective and experience Chris is not one of them.
AK It's an old world out there and I'm glad I was part of it!

Ray, There is lots of talk on other boards about Chris's weight and how he is underweight now and still trying to lose more for the finale. People are accusing him of promoting weight loss at any cost. As his trainer, can you comment on that (without revealing his current weight of course)? When he left the house, was he underweight? I don't have an opinion either way except that he looks like he couldn't possibly lose more weight. He said on the last show he was below his goal weight didn't he? Just wondering. Thanks!

Fair enough. However, since we only see parts of the time in the house, it would be hard to know exactly how much Chris gave out. Brutally honest is fine, rude and childish is not in my opinion.

Mind if I ask what your opinion of Chris would have been SOLEY from watching the show (which is all the rest of us saw)? If you hadn't met him and Ray wasn't training him, what would your opinion be?

Hi Beth, Chris' weight when he left the show gave him a BMI of 23 which is a perfect weight for his height. I guess people just compare him to his original weight and think he's too thin. Before he went in this weekend I tested his bodyfat, blood pressure, and core temperature and all were very healthy. I would never let him become underweight. Chris and Kimberlie spent 4 hours a day together before they went nto the house and not all of that time was spent training so there was plenty of time for 'conversation'. I'm disappointed that you think my take on Chris is a cop out (ie 'poor Chris') but I'm only expressing what I see. I can assure you, I'm not the only trainer to have this opinion. Ray

I didn't particularly take to Chris from the show, he did come across as a w@n!er. But I was always mindful that I was watching a show which had been carefully crafted and edited. In fact, I've wondered how I would come across on a show such as this - and contemplating that is why I wouldn't like to go on one! As viewers we are completely manipulated - and controversy/notoriety gets ratings - so with Chris they've been successful. I kinda don't get the 'deserve' argument - who 'deserves' to be there. Deserve doesn't fit right to me, in context of a tv show of production team chosen contestants. I love watching the transformations - seeing what people look like at goal. Quite frankly I don't mind who wins - I'm barracking for everyone. Go, you Losers!

Thanks for clearing up the weight issue. I agree Chris looks great and has done an amazing job in regards to weight loss. In regards to the "cop out", you say Chris and Kim spent 4 hrs a day together but I'm just pointing out that all the losers spent 24hrs a day together, 7 days a week for up to 12 weeks. That's a lot more time than Chris and Kim spent together. I'm sure everyone got on everyone's nerves a some people probably hated each other. My point was that in things like elimination (where you KNOW if will be on tv as opposed to random clips of your everyday life), no one but Chris made rude childish remarks to another contestant and was very rude during the goodbye's. That one comment of Chris's just made him look like an @ss in my opinion. I'm also sure with the comments he made on the show and the fact that some of the things he says today make you cringe, that he did his fair share of crapping on Kim as well. Anyway, I'm just voicing my opinion the way everyone else voiced theirs. I understand your loyalty to Chris since you're training him and you have a vested interest in him winning. Fair enough. Good luck to all the contestants. It will be good to see all the before and after's.

Hey Beth - just to let you know, you are voicing the opinion that I've heard from workmates in our office chit chats about the show. You're definitely not alone in your opinion of Chris. I know that it won't effect your enjoyment of the finale! Awhile ago Aj was on the radio, discussing what it was like comparing TBL, and the hosts asked her to say, 'it's time to cut the fat'. She did the line and says that they often have to cut out her laughing her head off during eliminations, and cracking up the contestants, because it's all meant to be so serious. I just want to point out that even the elimination room is edited. And the finale, which will be 'live', will be edited too, to some degree. As for who I think will win? Well, Chris may have over-excelled in the house and not have enough left to lose in the final. I think Marty had maybe 10-15 kgs to go, and I don't think Pati will be able to get the percentage to beat Marty. So I think Marty will win (and that's nothing to do with likes and dislikes). Damien will get the Trainer's Choice, I'm tippin.

Lorna, I have done the same! I am SO sarcastic etc in real life, I would be perfect fodder for the editors!! And having the TV cameras around would not make em change. Good thing I am not in there, huh? And yes, we do have to remember how heavily edited this show is. The producers must have been rubbing their hands together in pure joy at the Chris/Kim thing. I am sure we have not been shown much at all of Kim's true self, because if they showed us how she really is (If I am right) then the Evil Chris would not lok nearly as bad, because I suspect he has been quite restrained with her. I possibly would have thrown her in the pool!!! And again, if I am right, she is an older woman who should have more maturity on her side.
Caution: Sarcastic and Cynical!!!

Hey, thanks for letting me know I'm not the only one who thought this way. Let me be clear that I don't hate Chris and I don't think he was the worst contestant on the show (although I personally didn't care for him). I just think he made some errors in judgement and unfortunately, they really swayed my opinion of him. I'm sure all the contestants were jerks at some point in the game. I also agree about the editing of the show. It's really hard to know exactly what goes on when it's so choppy in the footage. Anyway, I'm going to enjoy the finale and I personall don't care who wins. I agree that it will probably be Marty. We'll see.

I guess I must be alone n my opinion that Chris was treated appalling by the other contestants. I don't agree with his comment towards Kimberlie but at least his upfront and says whats on his mind unlike sneaky sly Pati. Personally I think they are all winners by losing their weight.
