Big Smile [:D] Losing weight with Aussie BL

Hi everyone, my name is Alison, and I am also planning on getting  fit & healthy while BL is on! I would like to lose about 14kg. I'm guessing I won't qualify for the comp, but that's ok- I  still want to lose weight while the show's on & could do with some accountability! Although I don't want to lose 100kg, I still find it very tough to get motivated, and I also don't feel good about myself  , so before some of you write me off, I thought I would just mention that!! I am currently 69.8kg and would like to be 56kg, and stay permanently 58 & under. I am 165cm tall , am 36yo and have 4 children aged 4-10.So, I realize that I'm not morbidly obese, or anything, but I really want to feel comfortable in my own skin , healthy and fit, AND I desperately want and need to kick my terrible chocolate addiction !!! (I eat family blocks regularly!)Embarrassed [:$]Good luck everyone - GO AUSSIES!!!Big Smile [:D]

Are you talking about the forum comp?  Correct me if I am wrong Ray but I think everyone no matter how much they have to lose will qualify for the comp!  If you dont win, hey what have you lost?  Weight so you win anyway!

Cant give you much advice on choco addiction, I have had the same thing myself.  I dont buy huge blocks any more, i get a small one and have a couple  of squares a day.  I figure if y ou deny yourself then the craving will build up and then that is when you binge

Everyone qualifies! Are you saying that your weight loss is not as important as others? It will be great to have you there!

On the chocolate side of things, you need to talk to Caraboose. She has serious problems Big Smile [:D]

Re: Losing weight with Aussie BL

Thanks, and no I don't mean my or anyone else's weight loss is any less important, I just wanted to explain how I feel, I guess. Sometimes people who are more overweight than I am are offended if I say I'm overweight, or that I need to lose weight, and I certainly don't want to offend anyone, or make it sound like I think my current weight is outrageously high , or whatever, but at the same time I wanted to get the message across that I still feel dissatisfied with myself!

Re: Losing weight with Aussie BL

From what I have gathered, there are people on this website who have a lot of kilo's to lose (like myself). And there are other sthat only have a few. But either way, I believe the reason Ray and his posse started this site and forum is because no matter how much or little people want to lose, we all need that advice, support and sometimes a shoulder to cry on from one another. I can't speak for others, but that is certainly why I joined.

That's right. Support is such a crucial factor.

Knowing that others believe in you and really want you to succeed can be all it takes to get you across the line Yes [Y]

Re: Losing weight with Aussie BL

    Hi Alison,

We seem to have a few things in common - height, age, kids, amount of weight to lose and a sweet tooth!

All I can suggest for the chocolate cravings are:  1. get the stuff out of the house and

                                        2.  Replace it with fresh fruit.

I'm probably relying too heavily on the fruit at the moment and blowing my carb allowance but I have managed to keep away from the other stuff since Boxing Day  ( and lose 5kg).......  I really overdosed in the lead up to Christmas!

    Good luck with the challenge,

    Harri

Re: Losing weight with Aussie BL

Fruit is a good alternative, but just remember some fruits are very high in sugar so you might not be doing yourself a favor.  Try the lower sugar fruits and perhaps a low fat yoghurt they can help with curbing that sweet tooth

    Hi Harri

Good on you for keeping off the choc - keep going!!! I have actually done it twice  before, and once I hit 3 weeks of being off it, I don't even crave it any more, so  I just need to get into it!! The frustrating thing is I know exactly what to do- I've lost 15kg (down to 56) and 10 kg (down to 55.6!) before, but then something happens-the 1st time I fell pregnant with#4, and the 2nd time my Dad died suddenly, which I know are sort of excuses, but they were also life altering things, so the weight slowly crept back on!The second time I lost weight I actually went to Sureslim, which was great in that it taught me so much about how to eat good , clean, energy giving REAL foods, so as I said, I do know what to do, I just have to get my act together!!!!I also run on the treadmill, do a cycle class & a pump class every week, and am about to start Pilates once a week, so I think I'm active enough- and I really enjoy exercise- it's my "me time"!So, I'm just looking forwrd to some inspiration, motivation and support from like-minded Aussie BL fans. Let's do it!!!!

Re: Losing weight with Aussie BL

I find that the more water I drink, the less I crave chocolate!! I bought a water dispenser for home and that has helped heaps.

I also did SureSlim which helped with weight loss but in turn gave me insulin resitance because it is based on basically no carbs. Just shows that there is no diet that works for everyone!!

I am now just on a healthy eating plan, increasing low GI foods and outing everything else...working for me so far...

Re: Losing weight with Aussie BL

    Hi ezzie

I agree, no 1 diet works for everyone. Sureslim did seem to work very well for me, though . I lost 10kg and dropped from 33% to 21% body fat in 6 weeks, and I can honestly say I have never felt so good ( as in healthy, energetic, etc) in my life.So I think that if I can go back to those principles (SSlim) I will lose the weight & fat. I don't mind if it takes longer this time- and maybe I can be a little less strict (I did it to the absolute letter!) b/c I do enjoy a cup of tea or coffee- withlots of milk- and I don't think 1 or 2 a day is going to hurt!!!And you're right about the water- I'm a terrible water drinker- I really have to concentrate on drinking enough, but when I do, I know it acts as a great appetite suppressant.Good luck, and I look forward to reading about your success!!!Big Smile [:D]    Alison

I was doing the chocolate thing too, its amazing how fast you can go through a family size block of choc while watching a dvd, no more choc in my house!

Re: Losing weight with Aussie BL

Yes, there are many systems out there that will make you lose weight.

The trick to finding the correct system is whether or not you can stay on it for life, or whether you'll be putting the weight back on when you come off it. Sooner or later you need to get used to preparing good meals and exercising!

Re: Losing weight with Aussie BL

Its the putting back on thing that I am focussed on... I have tried many things but put all if not more of the weight back on.

After making small adjustments to my eating last January (05), and realising that I had lost 14kg in a year, I am still kind of left wondering how I did it?? What I do know is that I havent done anything so different that I cant continue. I even ate all the bad things when I felt like them or had a party etc.

That is why my weight loss was so slow but also why it is so easy to continue!!
