    Melonhead

Its 10am . my 3rd day. i am too scared to eat. I am now craving junk food and my eyes are blurry.

detoxing from sugar is as bad as giving up the smokes

going to attempt to drink that strange fluid that comes from our kitchen tap. Water . Im not big on water. Better start getting used to it i guess

note to self. must do calf exercises as prescribed my podiatrist 3 times today

did 3 reps of  3 calf exersises for injury

did weights. omg when did 5 kilos feel so heavy

30 sit ups(im sure i used to be able to reach my knees once)

    did my stretches

    starving now.

how come stretching muscles are exhausting. am I that unfit???

    Day 4

    Amazed at my devotion.

Have maintained 1400 calorie intake for 4 days now. Today I dont feel so tired. Infact for the first time in ages Ii ate lunch and didnt feel like i had to sleep.  Some days I would put off eating because I would feel so tired straight after.

i hve cut my sugars back to 1 sugar in my coffee and am almost comfortable with that.

i have cut my coffees back drastically altho I am not pushing the issues of coffee on myself because I am only 10 months new from being a non smoker. Scared I will sabotage everything if I take all my pleasures away.

Did all stretches today. Tried to do some step work, inflamed knee so resting that.

Did grocery shopping for 6 people, now theres a work out. according to my calorie burning calculator i burned 277 cals doing that. COOL

Trolley inflamed knee as usual but thats normal. I hate shopping trolleys.

I feel like I m going to do it this time

I even dared to dream about being able to wear my size 12 clothes i packed away a couple of years ago. glad i didnt throw them out in a fit of despair.

had to go to a meeting at 7pm which totally slipped my mind. so i missed biggest loser, didnt get to eat my dinner and i missed Lost.

I ate my dinner when i got home at 9 which i hate doing because it upsets my sleep if i eat that late

in the end i totalled 1013 calories for the day and Ii had a pretty physical day.

im up at 11.52pm  with a head ache and unable to sleep and my legs keep jumping which is so annoying when u are trying to sleep

hate taking panadol but think i better. i have to get up at 6 am . going to eat better tomorrow. think ill read everyones post till the panadol works

    Re: Melonhead

went for a 20 minute walk.I removed the strapping from my feet as instructed by my pod and went  not too fast  but faster than average. after 2 weeks of calf stretches and other stretches i got home pain free. this is a big step for me. I feel like i could go again. my body is busting to go a faster pace, its just the feet and knees holding me back. today was a brilliant example of persistance and hope paying off

i am allowing a tim tam in my calorie intake today. i feel like celebrating

omg i just realized, my knee didnt even swell...... i really feel like celebrating now

    Re: Melonhead

oh wow that is good news!!! just remember to wait until everything is healed up beautifully - you only get one chance to heal well! i know after my op, i was busting to do things, but because it was so massive, i just lived with the frustration of not doing things... i was very lucky to have such wonderful hubby & kids do everything. they knew how important it was for me to heal up on the inside before i rushed in to do anything. it's taking me til now to still get everything back to normal (like the damn house!) but at least i haven't done any damage inside.

knees & ankle injuries suck, hey. i have nana-knees, and always twisted my ankles.. horrid...anyway now they don't arc up half so much... it makes such a difference to do things right and have the weight come off...

so you go enjoy that well-earned tim tam. just remember to REALLY enjoy it because we're not letting you have one for another week *grin* Stick out tongue [:P]

    Re: Melonhead

Started back at my wood working club today. lots of lifting and lots of working out using bansaws, scroll saws table saws and the like. lots of walking back and forth to lathes and the wood pile and a fair bit of weight in some of the lengths of timber i drag around. this is great. i really took notice today but serious wood working is a good workout and i didnt even realize it.feet are killing me after an entire morning of it so its an hour with my feet up then a rigourous workout doing housework and its beef provinceal tonite from the CSIRO healthy living book mmm yum

    Re: Melonhead

Good on you! Shopping is definitely a work out! I have 7 kids, and I used to try and shop fortnightly with one trolley!!! People used to point and make comments all the time, I was so embarrassed!
Do you think the CSIRO book is helpful? I've heard all the reports about it, but haven't actually gotten hold of it yet...

    Re: Melonhead

I think the CSIRO book is a good educational book and very interesting and i use  many of the recipies as long as they fall into my calorie allowance . i dont think this diet is suitable for a family of 6 with a mortgage and moderate income though, its just not finacially do-able so i  take what i can out of it and apply it to my own "melonhead diet 4 life"

diet going really well again today

went to podiatrist, he said i have hope of full recovery because all of the calf exercises made such a dramatic difference already. then he tried to push a 490 dollar custom made insert on me and reckons these will ensure full recovery more than anything so i felt a bit depressed as i cannot afford this. so what i am doing is marking the date in 6 months time to review my foot pain etc. if by then i still cant walk even after all the stretches 3 times daily and the weight loss, then i will buy the inserts and maybe use the good old credit card(i hate credit, its evil)

podiatrist recommended bike riding so that my foot wasnt constantly being re-injured whilst exercising. hmm i feel too fat to ride a bike and exercise bikes are so boring, i like to be outdoors.my eyes glaze over at indoor exercise.mayeb if i ride after dark no one will see me. going to ponder that one a little

total calories 1473  (i think i over calculated  as it was hard for me to clculate the calories in one of my meals so i have gone the high end to be safe)

exercise 2 hours rigourous housework ( i set the timer and go go go then once the buzzer stops, what evers not done - too bad)

3 hours of gardening - digging, wheel barrowing , potting , carrying pots, weeding. gardening is the best work out ever and is probably the only reason why my muscles still work at all.

    Re: Melonhead

    totally exhausted

havent been  sleeping well. the more exercise i do the less i sleep even though i am really tired. i dont know why this is. i have always been like thatits a bit annoying now though. i am older and need my sleep. dont know how much i will do today. might just be a whole day of knitting. guess im lucky that i have the option of taking the day off and answer to no one.
